Have you tried Elementor v4? If so, what are your thoughts?

I personally love the overall idea of Elementor v4. Especially, regarding the number of elements.

Elementor v4 has way fewer elements than Elementor version 3, but they are all essentials. Honestly, I don’t think that more elements means better.

I still use Elementor v3 on my daily basis and have no plan to switch to Elementor v4 before the beta status is lifted.

When designing a page using Elementor v3, in most real use cases, I rarely use widgets like Price Table, Testimonial and Call to Action.

When I need to add a pricing table to my page, I prefer to create it manually using the Icon List widget paired with other widgets like Heading, Text Editor and Button. This gives me more freedom regarding the design and layout.

The same is true for call to action and testimonial.

Then, I save it into a template and re-use it on other pages or projects. In Elementor v4, something like this can be turned into a component.

Components and design systems are two main features that Elementor wants to offer in version 4.

The question is, do you really need a design system?

Design system is good, but not all websites need it

A design system is great and super useful if you want to create a large website. Something like an e-commerce website or a website with multiple pages.

With a design system, it becomes extremely easy and fast to make changes to your design because you have the documentation of what you have applied to your website.

As simple as changing the button sizes, spacings, colors, etc.

But in reality, there are many people that use Elementor only to create simple landing pages to promote their products or portfolio websites to showcase their works. And these types of websites don’t need a design system.

Also, there are many Elementor users who work solo on a website, while a design system is ideally used in a team as a communication tool.

Creating a design system is not easy and requires adequate web design knowledge.

If you are new to Elementor or primarily use Elementor to create landing pages or simple websites, I strongly recommend you to skip the design system and only use it on larger projects that really need one.
